Rendering automatic by computer that which is done by hand per se would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art. See In re Rundell, 48 F.2d 958 ([CCPA 1931]) and Leapfrog Enterprises Inc. v. Fisher- Price Inc., 485 F.3d 1157 (Fed. Cir. 2007).

Leapfrog Enterprises, Inc. v. Fischer Price, Inc., 485 F.3d 1157, 82 USPQ2d 1687 (Fed. Cir. 2007) 2114 2143.01

3691 Ex Parte FLITCROFT et al 12268063 - (D) FETTING 101 BUCHANAN, INGERSOLL & ROONEY PC KAZIMI, HANI M

“[A]n inventive concept can be found in the non-conventional and non generic arrangement of known, conventional pieces,” even if these pieces constitute generic computer-related components. Bascom Global Internet v. AT&T Mobility LLC, 827 F.3d 1341, 1350 (Fed. Cir. 2016). The instant claims are similar to those in Bascom in that as in Bascom, an intermediary is inserted between two otherwise conventional computer nodes to move the location where a process is otherwise ordinarily executed. In Bascom it was filtering and in the instant claims it is checking on credit use limitations. The reasons for moving are similar in both cases and are rooted in the ways of internet technology.
