Further, because “each claim must be considered as defining a separate invention,” Jones v. Hardy, 727 F.2d 1524, 1528 (Fed. Cir. 1984), we find it entirely within the parameters of proper patent examination for the Examiner to tailor his application of the prior art to the specific language of each independent claim. See also Pall Corp. v. Micron Separations, Inc., 66 F.3d 1211, 1220 (Fed. Cir. 1995) (“each claim is a separate statement of the patented invention”); Altoona Publix Theatres, Inc. v. Am.
